West Ham United faced off against Silkeborg at the London Stadium earlier tonight as they looked to earn a good result on the road in the UEFA Europa Conference League. The Hammers made a poor start to the game as they conceded the opening goal in the fifth minute when Kasper Kusk found the back of the net. However, the visitors drew level via Manuel Lanzini’s penalty just eight minutes later. Gianluca Scamacca completed the turnaround for West Ham as he scored in the 25th minute before Craig Dawson put his team 3-1 ahead before the half-time break.
The home team pulled a goal back in the 75th minute courtesy of Soren Tengstedt’s goal. However, David Moyes’ men hung on to their narrow advantage and secured a 3-2 win away from home.
Let’s take a look at how each West Ham United player fared during the match against Silkeborg.
GK: Alphonse Areola – 5.5/10
He made a couple of solid saves and won’t be happy after conceding a couple of goals tonight.
CB: Thilo Kehrer – 6/10
He passed the ball well out from the back and was relatively solid at the back.
CB: Craig Dawson – 6.5/10
Dawson could have done better to block Kusk’s goal. However, he went on to score himself in the 38th minute which was enough to give West Ham the win.
CB: Aaron Cresswell – 7.5/10
The English defender took some quality set-pieces during the game and had a decent game on the defensive end of the pitch.
RM: Vladimír Coufal – 5/10
Coufal should have closed the opposition down when they were trying to deliver crosses from the wide areas.
CM: Manuel Lanzini – 7/10
He got himself into some dangerous areas in the final third and deserves credit for converting his spot-kick early in the game.
CM: Declan Rice – 7/10
The England international controlled the flow of the game really well at the centre of the park.
LM: Emerson Palmieri – 6.5/10
He had a few lively moments in the game but lacked quality in the final third.
CAM: Lucas Paqueta – 7/10
Paqueta linked up play well with others around him and made some decent runs with the ball.
ST: Maxwel Cornet – 8/10
Cornet caused a lot of headaches for the Silkeborg defenders but there was no goal for him tonight.
ST: Gianluca Scamacca – 7/10
The Italian forward took his goal well in the 25th minute but was quiet in the second half.
Substitutes:
CAM: Said Benrahma – 6/10
He offered very little after coming on in the 63rd minute.
RW: Jarrod Bowen – 6/10
Bowen added some pace to Moyes’ attack.
CM: Tomas Soucek – 6/10
He got some valuable minutes under his belt.
LW: Pablo Fornals – N/A
The Spaniard didn’t get enough time to warrant a rating.
CM: Conor Coventry – N/A
He came on for the final few minutes of the game.
