The Villans held Manchester City to a 1-1 draw in their last outing, so they will be bidding to build on this and move forward to grab a win. On the other hand, Southampton head into this contest on the back of a 1-0 defeat against Wolverhampton Wanderers in their previous Premier League fixture.
Steven Gerrard will most certainly opt for the 4-3-3 formation with Mings and Konsa continuing in the backline and Watkins leading the charge at Villa Park.

Defence
Emiliano Martínez will function in goal for the upcoming home encounter as the Argentine shot-stopper will hope to put up a strong performance and secure a clean sheet. Ezri Konsa will form the centre-half partnership alongside Tyrone Mings at the heart of Villa’s backline as they try to stop the opposition from scoring.
Matty Cash will operate in the right back position whereas Lucas Digne fills in on the opposite flank. The fullbacks will be expected to stretch the opposition in the final third and remain compact on defence.
