In a recent report, El Desmarque claimed that Real Madrid are monitoring the progress of Borussia Dortmund prospect Youssoufa Moukoko. It is believed that Los Blancos are eyeing a move for the German centre-forward as they look to strengthen their squad for the future.
Moukoko’s Impressive Rise At Signal Iduna Park
Moukoko has come through the youth ranks of Dortmund and has done well to establish himself as a useful member of their senior squad. The 17-year-old has banged in seven goals and grabbed four assists in 46 matches for the German club last season across all competitions.
The German Under-21 international has made most of his appearances as a substitute but has done well to catch the eye by averaging 1.0 shots and 0.5 dribbles per 90 minutes in the Bundesliga. However, he has struggled to be accurate with his link-up play in the final third, as evidenced by his pass completion rate of 55% in the top tier of German football (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at Dortmund is set to expire in the summer of 2023. Hence, Los Blancos might have a good chance of landing the youngster on a free transfer next summer.
Real Madrid Monitoring The Progress Of Moukoko: Is He A Prospect For The Future?
Moukoko can make a few driving runs with the ball on the attacking third of the field. He is proficient at creating space for himself to get a few shots in on target. The German sensation can be a decent finisher in front of the opponent’s goal when he is playing with confidence on the field. He is primarily a centre-forward but can also play as a secondary striker alongside someone else if needed.
Recruiting someone of Moukoko’s potential would be a great acquisition for Los Blancos as he will bolster their attacking options for the future. The gifted teenager has got the ceiling to become the perfect successor to Karim Benzema at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium in the long run.
At 17, Moukoko has shown flashes of his true potential over the past 12 months. Thus, it makes a lot of sense for the Madrid giants to snap the striker up when his contract runs out at the end of this campaign.
There is no doubt that Moukoko is a prospect to watch out for in the future, so Carlo Ancelotti will do well to bring him on board on a free transfer next summer.
