In a recent interview with Give Me Sport, journalist Dean Jones mentioned that Real Madrid are in the race to land Borussia Dortmund ace Jude Bellingham. Jones said,
“Bellingham is the most exciting prospect of next summer and the expectation is that United, Liverpool and Chelsea battle for him – but I heard from a very good source this week that Real Madrid also like him and could yet come into the equation.”
Bellingham’s Impressive Numbers For Dortmund This Season
Bellingham is having another impressive campaign at Signal Iduna Park as he has already put in a few eye-catching performances at the heart of Dortmund’s midfield. The English talent has scored three times in ten matches for the German club last season on all fronts.
The 19-year-old has been a consistent performer in the middle of the park based on his average of 2.9 tackles, 1.7 interceptions, 1.3 clearances, 2.6 shots, 0.9 key passes and 3.0 dribbles per game in the Bundesliga. He has even taken care of the ball when interchanging possession with his teammates after completing 82.8% of his attempted passes in league football (stats via whoscored).
Bellingham’s current contract with the German outfit is set to run out in the summer of 2025. Therefore, Los Blancos will have to orchestrate a big-money move to acquire the former Birmingham City’s services next year.
Is Bellingham A Good Option For Real Madrid?
Bellingham is a solid tackler of the ball and can time his challenges well to secure possession back for his team in the middle of the park. He usually provides decent protection for his teammates at the back but is also proficient at making some dangerous runs towards the opponent’s penalty box. The England international has got the vision to set up a handful of inviting chances for others around him and can also contribute by scoring his fair share of goals in the final third.
At the moment, Bellingham is playing at a very high level despite his young age. He is good enough to make an immediate impact at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium if Real Madrid can engineer a move to land him at the end of this campaign.
We can expect Bellingham to add more goals and creativity to Carlo Ancelotti‘s midfield and would serve as a perfect, long-term successor to Luka Modric who has entered the final phase of his playing career at the Madrid club. Therefore, the English whizkid would be an excellent option for Ancelotti to consider next summer.
