Newcastle United have recently confirmed on their official website that Lucas De Bolle has penned a new two-year contract with the Magpies before going out on a season-long loan move to Hamilton Academical. After signing the new deal, De Bolle expressed his happiness and said,
“I’m very happy to sign my new deal at a club where I have played for the last six years and the club me and my family have always supported.
“I have always dreamt of playing in the Premier League with Newcastle and this contract is a step in that direction and hopefully in the future I can do that.”
De Bolle’s Impressive Rise At Tyneside
De Bolle has come through the Tyneside club’s youth system and has done well to catch the eye with his performances for their Under-18 and Under-21 sides respectively. The 19-year-old is yet to make a senior appearance for Newcastle but deserves credit for scoring one goal and picking four assists in 30 appearances for the club’s Under-23 team so far.
A loan switch to Hamilton could now offer De Bolle a chance to play regularly in top-flight football and come back as a much-improved version of himself next summer.
De Bolle Pens A New Contract With Newcastle United: Good Move For Both Parties?
De Bolle usually plays as a box-to-box midfielder but can even operate as a defensive midfielder or function in the number ten position if his manager asks him to do so. He has got a knack for scoring and creating some important goals for his team and can offer decent protection for his teammates at the back as well.
The Scottish talent has got the potential to become a future star at the highest level. However, for that to happen, he needs to ensure regular playing minutes so that he can continue to grow as a midfielder in senior football.
At the moment, De Bolle is far too inexperienced to play in Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe’s first team. Thus, it makes sense for the youngster to go out and gain some experience on loan before coming back and challenging for a first-team place at St. James’ Park next season.
All in all, De Bolle’s decision to extend his contract will be a good move for both the player and the Tyneside club as long as he can ensure regular top-flight football at Hamilton this season.
