In a recent report from Manchester Evening News, it was stated that Manchester United had made an enquiry for Paris Saint Germain’s Presnel Kimpembe, earlier this summer. It was also mentioned that no concrete offer was made from the Red Devils for his signature as he stayed put with the reigning Ligue 1 champions.
Kimpembe’s Recent Run Of Form For PSG
Kimpembe has had a solid start to this campaign as he has put in a few influential displays in the defensive third of the field. He hasn’t made his mark in the offensive end but has contributed heavily to the defence making seven appearances across all fronts.
The France international has been reliable at the backline and performed consistently after averaging 2.3 tackles. 1.5 interceptions and 0.7 clearances in league football. He has been excellent with his ball distribution as evidenced by his pass completion rate of 93.9% in the French top flight (stats via whoscored).
Should Ten Hag Bring Him To Manchester United?
Kimpembe has a solid presence at the back; as he can get stuck with some hard-bound tackles and clear his lines when the opposition is on the front foot. He often maintains his defensive shape by not rushing in for a tackle remaining calm and composed to find the right moment. Furthermore, he excels at playing his way out from the back as he can distribute the ball efficiently towards the midfield or the wide areas.
At 27. he is currently in his prime and has been performing at a high level for the French giants with enough room for improvement. He can undoubtedly add more bite and steel to United’s defence. His arrival could bring more strength and stability to Ten Hag’s defensive department adding enough depth to the squad.
Erik Ten Hag could make a lucrative offer for acquiring the French defender even though it would be hard to convince PSG to sell him as he remains a key man in the backline. The former Ajax boss could offer him regular game time and a higher wage to lure him to Old Trafford in the next summer transfer window.
