In a recent report from Manchester Evening News, it was mentioned that Manchester City could bring in Jude Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund in the January transfer window. It has also been stated that the Sky Blues would have to offer north of £100 million if they want to get his signature in the next transfer window.
Bellingham’s Recent Run Of Form For Dortmund
Bellingham had a terrific campaign at Dortmund in his previous campaign as he was responsible for putting in several influential displays at the centre of their midfield. Similarly, he has had a solid start to this season, having found the back of the net on two occasions over 9 appearances in this campaign.
The 19-year-old proved his worth as a consistent and reliable performer as he has averaged 2.6 shots, 3.0 dribbles, 1.7 interceptions, 2.9 tackles and 1.3 clearances in the German first division so far. He has also been accurate with his ball distribution after completing 82.8% of his attempted passes in the German top flight (stats via whoscored).
Should Guardiola Bring Him To Manchester City?
Bellingham has been prolific in the midfield areas; as he can make some decisive passes to split the opposition and set up his teammates in front of the goal. At the age of 19, he has impressed a lot of clubs with his consistent displays in the centre of the park. He excels at holding on to the ball and distributing possession to his teammates. Furthermore, he can strike the ball with power and accuracy to find the back of the net on multiple occasions.
The English midfielder has a solid presence defensively as he can get stuck with some hard-bound tackles and make some clever interceptions to win the ball back for his side. Guardiola already has a squad that can deliver the title but his arrival to the Etihad stadium could bring more competition to the midfield areas, supposedly acting as a quality understudy for Ilkay Gundogan.
Pep Guardiola has been wise to identify him as a potential target but a hefty price tag could pose a significant difficulty in acquiring him in January. Dortmund will only be convinced if they receive a befitting offer for their young prospect and such an astronomical asking price would be difficult for any club to offer at the moment.
