Arsenal faced off against Manchester United at Old Trafford earlier this evening as they hoped to keep their 100% winning start to this Premier League campaign intact. The Gunners made a slow start to the game and conceded the opening goal in the 35th minute when Antony scored for the Red Devils with a good finish. Arsenal failed to come up with an immediate response and went into the half-time break 1-0 down on the scoreline.
Bukayo Saka managed to equalise for the North London club at the hour mark. However, Marcus Rashford scored a quick-fire brace soon after as Arsenal ended up being defeated by a 3-1 scoreline.
Let’s take a look at how each Arsenal player fared during the clash against the Red Devils.
GK: Aaron Ramsdale – 6/10
Ramsdale made a few solid saves at the back but still ended up conceding three goals today.
RB: Ben White – 6/10
He got stuck in with some crunching tackles but failed to stop the home side from wreaking havoc. White struggled to influence the game in the opposition half.
CB: William Saliba – 6/10
Saliba cleared the danger a few times and was accurate with his passing. However, he looked vulnerable at the back throughout the game.
CB: Gabriel – 6/10
The Brazilian talent made a couple of crucial defensive contributions but was far from convincing defensively inside his half.
LB: Oleksandr Zinchenko – 5.5/10
He struggled to get a foothold in the game and was lucky to last 73 minutes.
CM: Albert Sambi Lokonga – 6.5/10
Lokonga made two crucial interceptions at the centre of the park and engineered one good chance in the final third.
CM: Granit Xhaka – 6.5/10
The Swiss international tried his best to protect his backline and was quite lively in the opponent’s half.
RW: Bukayo Saka – 7/10
Saka was a constant menace in the final third but was a bit wasteful with his finishing. Still, he deserves credit for scoring the equaliser in the second half.
CAM: Martin Odegaard – 6.5/10
The Norway international made some decent openings for others around him but failed to be productive on the attacking end of the pitch.
LW: Gabriel Martinelli – 6/10
Martinelli had some bright moments in the game but didn’t do enough to register a goal.
ST: Gabriel Jesus – 7/10
The Brazilian forward caused a lot of headaches for the opposition centre-backs but there was no goal for him today.
Substitutes:
CM: Fabio Viera – 6.5/10
He had a shot at goal but missed the target by quite some way.
ST: Eddie Nketiah – 6/10
Nketiah got himself into some promising areas but never looked like he would score.
CAM: Emile Smith Rowe – 6/10
He offered very little after coming off the bench.
RB: Takehiro Tomiyasu – 6/10
Tomiyasu was solid at the back.
