Everton welcomed West Ham United at Goodison Park earlier today as they hoped to secure a victory in front of their home fans. The Toffees made a decent start to the game but could only manage to get into the half-time interval with a 0-0 scoreline.
Neal Maupay broke the deadlock just eight minutes into the second half with a decent finish. The Merseyside club sat on their lead well and earned a hard-fought 1-0 win at home.

GK: Asmir Begovic – 8/10
The experienced goalie made a few solid saves at the back and secured an important clean sheet at Goodison Park today.
RB: Nathan Patterson – 7/10
He gave a good account of himself on the defensive end of the field and made a couple of decent runs with the ball.
CB: Conor Coady – 7/10
Coady earned the ball back a few times and didn’t hesitate to clear the danger when needed.
CB: James Tarkowski – 7.5/10
The English centre-back made numerous clearances inside his half and did enough to keep the West Ham attackers frustrated throughout the 90 minutes.
LB: Vitaliy Mykolenko – 7.5/10
Mykolenko hardly put a foot wrong in the game when defending inside his half and engineered two good chances in the final third.
CM: Amadou Onana – 7/10
He anchored the midfield with a lot of conviction but offered very little in the West Ham half.
CM: Idrissa Gueye – 7/10
Gueye offered decent protection for his teammates at the back and was accurate with his passing.
CM: Alex Iwobi – 7.5/10
He worked hard defensively and had a few lively moments on the attacking end of the pitch. Iwobi picked up an assist for setting up Maupay’s goal.
RW: Demarai Gray – 7/10
Gray caused a few problems for the opposition defenders but there was no goal for him today.
ST: Neal Maupay – 7.5/10
He scored the only goal of the game with a good finish in the 53rd minute.
LW: Anthony Gordon – 6.5/10
Gordon tracked back when needed but lacked quality in the final third.

LW: Dwight McNeil – 6/10
He offered very little after coming off the bench.
CM: Abdoulaye Doucoure – 6/10
Doucoure added some energy to Frank Lampard’s midfield.
ST: Salomon Rondon – N/A
He hardly had any time to make an impact.
