In a recent print edition, Gazzetta dello Sport mentioned that Everton are among clubs hoping to land Udinese forward Beto. It has been claimed that the Toffees are keeping tabs on the Portuguese striker but could face competition in the form of Fiorentina, Napoli and Borussia Dortmund in the race to sign him.
Beto’s Impressive Form In Serie A This Season
Beto has made a great start to this campaign after he put in a string of influential displays as the focal point of Udinese’s attack. The Lisboa-born centre-forward has banged in four goals in seven matches for the Italian club in Serie A this season.
The 24-year-old has led the line well at times by averaging 1.1 shots, 0.6 key passes and 0.6 dribbles per 90 minutes in the Italian first division. However, his link-up play has been woeful on the attacking third of the field, based on his pass completion rate of 56.5% in league football (stats via whoscored).
His current contract with Udinese is set to run out in the summer of 2026. Therefore, Everton will have to make a big offer if they are serious about recruiting Beto in the future.
Is Beto The Right Choice For Everton Boss Frank Lampard?
Beto is proficient at finding space for himself to get a few strikes in at goal. The Brazilian talent can be a good finisher in front of the opposition goal when he is playing with confidence on the pitch. Standing at 1.94m, the Udinese star is a dominant presence in the air and usually wins his fair share of 50-50 aerial duels. However, he needs to figure out a way to improve his passing accuracy in the future if he wants to become a top player in his position someday.
We can expect a striker of Beto’s quality to add more goals and physicality to Frank Lampard‘s attack at Goodison Park. He will give the Everton manager more options in the final third and might even help the Toffees earn a top-half finish in the Premier League.
At the moment, it seems like Beto could be a decent choice for the Merseyside club to pursue this winter or at the end of this season. At 24, his best years are ahead of him, so Lampard will fancy his chances of making the most of the striker’s services over the next few years if Everton can successfully devise a way to land him.
