Manchester City will lock horns with Aston Villa at Villa Park this Saturday evening as they try to grab all three points on their travels. Man City managed to secure a 6-0 win over Nottingham Forest earlier this week and would be the favorites to get the job done against Steven Gerrard’s men this weekend.
Pep Guardiola will stick with his favoured 4-3-3 formation and could play Kevin De Bruyne from the start in this clash away from home. Julian Alvarez is expected to make way for him and drop to the bench.
4-3-3 Manchester City Predicted Lineup To Face Aston Villa
Defence
Ederson will function in between the sticks for Man City after securing a clean sheet in his last appearance in the Premier League. Ruben Dias will continue to function along with John Stones at the centre of Guardiola’s defence as they try to keep things solid at the back this weekend.
Kyle Walker will retain his spot at right-back while Joao Cancelo looks to create some decent chances in the final third as the left-back. Both of them could get the freedom to get forward and make some overlapping runs out on the flanks.
Sergio Gomez will have to be content with a spot on the bench as he waits for his chance to impress in the second half if needed.
Midfield
Ilkay Gundogan, Rodri and Kevin De Bruyne will make up the Man City midfield. Their main focus would be to dominate the ball and engineer a few clear-cut chances in the Aston Villa half.
De Bruyne has been in a good run of form of late and would be expected to put in an influential display in the final third.
Attack
Phil Foden will function as the left-sided wide player while Bernardo Silva hopes to weave his magic from the right. Both of them will be given the license to get in behind the Villa backline at every chance they get so that they can create enough chances inside the opponent’s penalty area.
Erling Haaland will lead the charge for Man City down the middle after scoring a hattrick versus Nottingham in midweek. The Norwegian striker will fancy his chances of scoring again when he laces up to face off against the Aston Villa centre-backs this Saturday evening.
As mentioned earlier, Julian Alvarez will drop to the bench but might come on to make an impact in the latter stages of the contest if required.
