In a recent report, L’Equipe stated that Aston Villa midfielder Boubacar Kamara is set to be sidelined for at least two months. It has been mentioned that the Villans’ midfield ace is currently missing the international break because of a serious knee injury which could rule him out of the 2022 FIFA World Cup as well.
Kamara’s Recent Form At Villa Park
Kamara has made a difficult start to life at Villa Park after arriving from Olympique Marseille on a free transfer last summer. The 22-year-old has been involved in eight league matches for the West Midlands club so far but is still waiting to net his first goal for them.
The French talent has anchored the midfield with a lot of conviction based on his average of 3.3 tackles, 0.6 interceptions and 1.3 clearances per game in Premier League football. He has even been excellent with his ball distribution, as evidenced by his pass success rate of 83.8% in the top tier of English football (stats via whoscored).
Prior to his injury, Kamara managed to establish himself as one of the most influential members of Steven Gerrard’s first XI. Hence, losing him for such a long time will be a bitter pill to swallow for the Villans.
Kamara Set To Be Sidelined For At Least Two Months: Big Blow For Steven Gerrard?
Kamara is a solid tackler of the ball and can read the danger quickly to secure the ball back for his team at the centre of the park. He can offer decent protection for his teammates inside his half and usually clears his lines when the opposition are on the front foot. Kamara mainly operates as a defensive midfielder but can also fill in as a centre-back if his manager asks him to do so.
The French sensation is an accurate passer of the ball as well. Hence, losing someone of his quality will be a big blow for Aston Villa head coach Steven Gerrard during this international break.
The Villans have already lost Diego Carlos to a long-term injury. Now that the West Midlands club have seen Kamara take an injury hit as well, it will make it even harder for them to cope ahead of the Premier League’s resumption at the start of next month.
Gerrard would now hope for the Frenchman’s speedy recovery so that he can play a key role for his side in the second half of this campaign.
