In a recent report, Jeunes Footeux claimed that Aston Villa are facing stiff competition for Vasco da Gama starlet Andrey Santos. It has been mentioned that the Villans will have to rival Newcastle United, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain in pursuit of the gifted midfielder.
Santos’ Rapid Rise In Brazilian Football
Santos joined Vasco da Gama at an early age and has come through their youth ranks before going on to feature for their senior team. At such a tender age, the 18-year-old has already participated in 29 senior matches for the Brazilian outfit, finding the back of the net on six occasions in the process across various competitions.
The Vasco da Gama whizkid has shown flashes of his true potential over the past 12 months and deserves credit for establishing himself as a goal-scoring midfielder in the Brazilian Serie B. His current contract with the Brazilian club is set to run out in the summer of 2027. Hence, Aston Villa could find it difficult to lure him to Villa Park on the cheap in the future.
Aston Villa Face Stiff Competition For Santos: Is He A Prospect For The Future?
Santos has a knack for scoring a handful of important goals for his team and can get himself into some promising areas on the attacking end of the field. He is a good dribbler with the ball as well and has got the potential to become a future star at the highest level as long as he continues to improve his all-around game with each season. The Brazilian youngster is primarily a box-to-box midfielder but can also act as a defensive midfielder or operate in the number ten position if his manager asks him to do so.
At 18, Santos is already proving his worth as a reliable performer at the heart of Vasco da Gama. Hence, he will be a massive signing for the Villans if they can devise a way to win the race to acquire his services this January or at the end of this season.
The Brazilian prospect is already good enough to serve as a rotational piece in Steven Gerrard‘s squad but is still quite raw and would need time to settle into life in the Premier League. However, there is no denying that Santos is a prospect to watch out for in the coming seasons, so the West Midlands club should try everything they can to lure him to Villa Park.
