Borussia Dortmund will face off against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium this Wednesday night as they try to grind out a good result away from home in the UEFA Champions League. The German club suffered a poor 3-0 loss away at Red Bull Leipzig recently, so they will be low on confidence ahead of this crucial match at Manchester.
The Bundesliga club could set themselves up in a 4-2-3-1 and are expected to make one change for this game. Giovanni Reyna could get a chance to play from the start while Marius Wolf drops to the bench. However, Thorgan Hazard and Mohmoud Dahoud will definitely miss this contest due to injury.
4-2-3-1 Borussia Dortmund Predicted Lineup To Face Manchester City
Defence
Alexander Meyer will function in between the sticks for Dortmund despite shipping in three goals versus Leipzig recently. Niklas Sule will once again resume his defensive partnership with Nico Schlotterbeck at the centre of the German club’s backline as they try to keep the Man City attackers quiet this Wednesday night.
Thomas Meunier will keep his place at right-back while Raphaël Guerreiro looks to impress as the left-back. Both of them will have to keep a good defensive shape at the back and stop Man City from creating too many chances out on the flanks.
Tom Rothe would offer cover for the left-back position on the Dortmund bench.
Midfield
Salih Özcan and Jude Bellingham will anchor the midfield for Dortmund as they try to put in an impressive performance collectively at the centre of the park.
The talented trio of Julian Brandt, Marco Reus and Giovanni Reyna will operate just ahead of them as part of the German club’s attack. All three of them need to work hard in chasing the opposition down for most of the game and try to expose their weaknesses on the counter.
Emre Can will be available for selection on the bench. He might get a chance to come on and offer more energy in the second half if required.
Attack
Anthony Modeste will lead the line for the German giants in the final third. The French frontman will have to carry most of the goal-scoring workload on his own up top.
Youssoufa Moukoko will be available for selection on the bench as he waits for his chance to impress as a late-game substitute if Dortmund are in need of a goal by then.
