Belgium will clash heads with the Netherlands at the Johan Cruijff ArenA this Sunday night as they look to earn a positive result away from home in the UEFA Nations League. The Belgian players managed to secure a narrow 2-1 victory over Wales recently which will keep them in high spirits ahead of this European clash this weekend.
Roberto Martinez will probably be inclined to stick with the 3-4-2-1 formation and might make a couple of changes to his first XI for this game on the road. Both Timothy Castagne and Arthur Theate could get a chance to play from the start in this match.
3-4-2-1 Belgium Predicted Lineup To Face The Netherlands
Defence
Thibaut Courtois will function in between the sticks for Belgium after shipping in one goal in his last international outing. Martinez could opt for a back three of Arthur Theate, Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld for this game. The defensive trio need to be at the top of their game collectively if they are to keep the Dutch players at bay during the 90 minutes.
Zeno Debast will have to settle for a spot on the bench as he offers cover for the defensive positions on the bench.
Midfield
Axel Witsel and Youri Tielemans will anchor the midfield for Belgium as they try to get a stranglehold in the game at the centre of the park. Yannick Carrasco will function as the left-sided wide player while Timothy Castagne hopes to give a good account of himself on the right flank. Both of them will be given the license to make a few overlapping runs out on the wide areas.
Eden Hazard and Kevin De Bruyne will function as the free-flowing, attacking midfielders as they focus on creating a few decent chances in the final third.
Dries Mertens and Leandro Trossard will be available for selection on the bench as they wait for their chance to shine in the latter stages if needed.
Attack
Michy Batshuayi will lead the line for the Belgian side on the attacking end of the field. The talented striker managed to get his name on the scoresheet versus Wales, so he will be eager to impress by putting in another productive display up top.
Loïs Openda will have to be content with a spot but might come on to influence the game in the second half if Roberto Martinez decides to call upon his services.
