West Ham United will lock horns with Manchester City at London Stadium this Sunday as they look to kick off their campaign trying to get all three points against the defending champions on home turf. The Hammers have made necessary investments in their problem areas and are eager to test the potential of their squad going on the run for a top four place.
David Moyes could set his team up in a 4-4-2 formation with two attackers to lead the charge against the Sky Blues.
4-4-2 West Ham United Predicted Line Up Vs Manchester City
Defence
Alphonse Areola is expected to operate in between the sticks for the East London club. Craig Dawson and Kurt Zouma would form the centre-half partnership as they try to get a clean sheet against Man City. Nayef Aguerd remains sidelined after injuring his ankle in the pre-season and Issa Diop also finds himself benched after taking a knock.
Vladimir Coufal and Aaron Cresswell would feature in the right and left-back positions, trying to get forward and create opportunities up front.
Midfield
Declan Rice will partner with Tomas Soucek to slot into the holding midfield positions as they look to distribute the ball efficiently and create enough chances for the men up front. Flynn Downes might come off the bench in the latter stages to impact the game if required.
Pablo Fornals and Jarrod Bowen will take up the left and right-midfield positions to provide support from the wide areas.
Attack
Michail Antonio and Gianluca Scamacca might form the two-man strike team as the latter looks to make a successful debut while both of them take up the task of finding the back of the net against the Mancunian giants.
