In a recent report from the Sun, it is believed that Manchester City playmaker Bernardo Silva is still being pursued by Barcelona. It is understood that the Catalan giants have agreed on personal terms with the playmaking wizard. However, a deal could only happen if the Spanish giants successfully sell Frenkie De Jong.
Silva’s Impressive Campaign With Manchester City Last Season
Silva had a solid campaign last season when he managed to produce some master-class displays as a key member of Guardiola’s starting XI. He appeared in over 50 matches for the Mancunian giants last season as he banged in 13 goals and created seven assists across all competitions.
The Portuguese sensation performed consistently for Man City on the attacking end of the field as he averaged 1.3 shots, 1.7 key passes, 1.6 tackles, 0.5 interceptions and 1.5 dribbles per game in Premier League football. He was spectacular with his ball distribution, as evidenced by his pass success rate of 89.6% in the English top-flight (stats via whoscored).
Should Guardiola Take A Clear Stance?
Silva is a key player for Pep Guardiola as he can transition the attack from the midfield areas. He does well to keep hold of the ball and distribute possession to his teammates up front. He can create plays and find a pass like no other.
The Portugal international has shown pure master class displays over the recent years and has earned his position in the Etihad Stadium. His versatility on the pitch allows him to roam the final third with ease.
Guardiola should do everything in his capability to keep hold of him for a couple more years as he will be crucial in their run for the UCL title and defending the Premier League crown in the next campaign. Thus, the Spanish tactician should take a clear stance on the Portuguese’s future at the Etihad Stadium.
