In a recent edition of the Here We Go podcast, renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano mentioned that Liverpool are keeping tabs on Villarreal winger Yeremy Pino. Romano said,
“Many questions on Yeremi Pino. We have many rumours, it’s one of many players followed by Arsenal, but also by other clubs, for example, I am told that Chelsea have been tracking Yeremi Pino and now they are on [Anthony] Gordon. Pino is a player they have been watching for a long time.
“Liverpool have sent scouts to watch Pino many, many times in the past year. Top English clubs have been following him.”
Pino’s Impressive Rise In Spanish Football
Pino had a promising campaign at the Estadio de la Cerámica recently as he put in a series of impressive displays on the right side of Villarreal’s defence. The 19-year-old found the back of the net on seven occasions and earned four assists in 40 matches for the Spanish club last season across all competitions.
The talented wide player gave a good account of himself in the attacking end of the field by averaging 1.0 tackles, 0.9 shots, 0.8 key passes and 0.8 dribbles per 90 minutes in La Liga. He was even accurate when distributing possession in the opponent’s half, based on his pass success rate of 78.9% in the Spanish top tier (stats via whoscored).
Liverpool Are Keeping Tabs On Pino: Is He A Prospect For The Future?
Pino can create space for himself to get a few shots in on target and is a streaky goal-scorer in the final third. He can even create some decent plays for others around him and is a good dribbler with the ball as well. Pino is primarily a right-winger but can even fill in as a left-sided wide player or operate as a striker down the middle if needed.
The Spanish whizkid has the potential to become a prolific winger in the future. Thus, Liverpool will do well to lure him to Anfield this summer or at the end of this campaign.
At 19, Pino has got a bright future ahead of him and is good enough to serve as a good rotational piece in Jurgen Klopp‘s squad at Anfield.
The Liverpool head coach could be the ideal man to nurture him into a top talent in the coming seasons. However, Pino is still quite inexperienced at the highest level and would need time to settle into life in Premier League football. All in all, the Spaniard is definitely a prospect to watch out for in the future as long as he continues to improve his game with each season.
