Everton will clash heads with Aston Villa at Villa Park this Saturday afternoon as they try to pick up a positive result on the road. The Toffees suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat at the hands of Chelsea last weekend which has drained their confidence ahead of this game. However, this match would be another opportunity for them to get some points on board in the Premier League table.
Frank Lampard could set his team up in a 3-4-3 formation and is expected to make a couple of changes to his first XI for this clash. Both Mason Holgate and Michael Keane will play from the start due to the recent injuries of Ben Godfrey and Yerry Mina.
3-4-3 Everton Predicted Lineup To Face Aston Villa
Defence
Jordan Pickford will feature in between the sticks for the Merseyside club after conceding one goal in his last league appearance. Lampard could opt for a back three of Mason Holgate, Michael Keane and Yerry Mina for this game. The defensive trio will have to work together collectively to keep the Villans at bay throughout the game.
As mentioned earlier, both Godfrey and Mina won’t be available for selection because of injuries.
Midfield
Alex Iwobi and Abdoulaye Doucoure will anchor the midfield for Everton as they try to make life difficult for the opposition at the centre of the park. Both of them would have to work their socks off in midfield if Everton are to stand a chance of claiming all three points from this game.
Vitaliy Mykolenko will function as the left-sided wing-back while Nathan Patterson hopes to give a good account of himself on the right flank. Both of them need to defend their penalty box well and choose their moments to join in on the attack.
Allan, Jean-Philippe Gbamin, Ruben Vinagre and Dele Alli will have to settle for a place on the bench but might get a chance to feature as the second-half substitutes if needed.
Attack
Demarai Gray will get the nod to feature as the left-winger while Dwight McNeil hopes to catch the eye from the right.
Anthony Gordon will spearhead Lampard’s attack up top. The Liverpool-born talent has to find a way to cause a few problems for the Aston Villa centre-backs during the 90 minutes.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin will miss this clash due to a knee injury, so Everton won’t have too many reliable attacking options on the bench.
