Manchester City are set to face Newcastle United as they make their trip to St. James Park this Sunday. The Sky Blues come into the match looking to grab their third consecutive win after thrashing Bournemouth 4-0 and sweeping them aside. Whereas, the Magpies were held off by Brighton & Hove Albion to a scoreless draw.
Pep Guardiola will probably utilise the 4-3-3 formation while using various options for the attack at his disposal.
Manchester City 4-3-3 Predicted Line Up To Face Newcastle United
Defence
Ederson will operate in between the sticks for Man City as the Brazilian shot-stopper looks to secure another clean sheet, making it three in a row. Nathan Ake and Ruben Dias are expected to form the centre-half partnership at the heart of City’s backline as they look to stop the opposition in their tracks collectively.
Kyle Walker and Joao Cancelo are expected to stretch the opposition backline and create more opportunities in the final third.
John Stones remains benched as he looks to provide cover in the defensive department, if required.
Midfield
Guardiola’s midfield trio will consist of Ilkay Gundogan, Rodri and Kevin De Bruyne as they look to distribute the ball efficiently and transition the attack. The latter will be going forward and setting up his teammates in front of the goal, whereas, Rodri would shield his backline and play a more defensive role.
Bernardo Silva and Kalvin Phillips would probably come on to the match in the second half to create an impact.
Attack
The Spanish tactician has various attacking options at his disposal, but he will make sure Erling Haaland and Phil Foden start from the get-go as they remain in excellent form. Riyad Mahrez might feature in his preferred right-wing position, looking to provide support from the wide areas.
Julian Alvarez might come on in the latter half of the match if required, so he would be taking up the spot on the bench alongside Jack Grealish.
