Everton welcomed Nottingham Forest at Goodison Park earlier today as they focused on collecting their first points of this Premier League campaign. The Toffees dominated possession in the early goings of the game but failed to keep up their pressure as they were held to a scoreless draw at half-time.
Brennan Johnson finally broke the deadlock in the 81st minute when he scored for Nottingham with a good finish. However, Demarai Gray equalised for the Merseyside club just seven minutes later when he scored a good breakaway goal. The contest ended with the Toffees settling for a hard-fought 1-1 draw in front of their home fans.
Let’s take a look at how each Everton player performed during the match against Nottingham Forest.
GK: Jordan Pickford – 8/10
The English keeper made a few crucial saves at the back. He ended up setting up Gray’s late equaliser with a great long pass.
CB: Mason Holgate – 6.5/10
He cleared the danger when needed and earned possession back a couple of times for his team.
CB: Conor Coady – 6.5/10
Coady put his foot through the ball when the opposition were on the front foot. However, he will be disappointed after conceding in the 81st minute.
CB: James Tarkowski – 6.5/10
The English talent was strong in the air and kept things solid at the back for most of the game.
RM: Nathan Patterson – 6.5/10
He performed his defensive duties well and made one good chance in the final third.
CM: Tom Davies – 6/10
The English midfielder struggled to get a foothold in the game and got replaced in the 56th minute.
CM: Alex Iwobi – 7/10
He made two encouraging runs with the ball and engineered a handful of decent chances in the final third.
LM: Vitaliy Mykolenko – 6.5/10
Mykolenko secured the ball back a couple of times and had some lively moments in the Nottingham half.
RW: Anthony Gordon – 7/10
The Liverpool-born attacker was a constant menace in the opposition half and did everything but score today.
ST: Salomon Rondon – 6/10
He worked hard but failed to threaten the opposition goal. Rondon could only last 56 minutes.
LW: Demarai Gray – 8/10
Gray was by far the best Everton player on the field today. He caused a lot of problems for the opposition defenders and managed to rescue a point for his team by scoring a late goal.
Substitutes:
CM: Amadou Onana – 6/10
He offered very little after coming off the bench.
RW: Dwight McNeil – 6/10
McNeil didn’t get too many sniffs at goal.
