In a recent report, The Telegraph mentioned that Everton have identified Southampton forward Che Adams as a target for this summer transfer window. It has been claimed that the Toffees are eyeing a move for the Scottish talent as they look to strengthen their attack this month.
Adams’ Impressive Form At St. Mary’s Stadium
Adams enjoyed a good run of form in the Premier League last season as he put in a few impressive displays for the Saints up top. The 26-year-old found the back of the net eight times and secured three assists in 33 matches for Southampton in the previous campaign across all fronts.
The Leicester-born sensation caught the eye by averaging 1.6 shots, 0.9 key passes and 0.7 dribbles per game in the Premier League. However, he needs to improve his ball distribution after making 65.7% of his attempted passes in top-flight football (stats via whoscored).
Adams has still got a couple of years left in his current contract at the St. Mary’s Stadium. Thus, it won’t be easy for Everton to get a deal done for him on the cheap this summer.
Is Adams A Good Choice For Everton Boss Frank Lampard?
Adams can create some space for himself to get a few shots in on target and can be a streaky goal-scorer in the final third. He has got the vision to engineer a few decent plays for others around him and can also make some clever runs with the ball in the final third.
At 26, the Scottish striker is about to enter his prime and could serve as a good rotational piece in Frank Lampard‘s squad at Goodison Park.
We can expect Adams to add more firepower to Everton‘s attack. Plus, he could help them challenge for a top-half finish in the Premier League this season.
With both Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Salomon Rondon struggling to remain fit, Lampard has often relied on Anthony Gordon to carry the responsibility of leading the charge for Everton up top. After Richarlison’s move to Tottenham Hotspur earlier this summer, the Toffees need a new centre-forward, so Adams fits the bill perfectly as he would be a good replacement for the Brazilian forward this summer.
With all things considered, the Southampton attacker would be a decent choice for the Merseyside club to consider before the end of this summer transfer window as he will increase competition for places within their match-day squad.
