In a recent report, Marca mentioned that Everton are in talks to land Villarreal winger Samuel Chukwueze. It has been revealed that the Toffees are open to a loan move for the talented wide player with an obligatory option to purchase him permanently for €45m.
Chukwueze’s Impressive Form In Spanish Football Last Season
The 23-year-old had a decent spell with the Yellow Submarine last season when he managed to put in a handful of influential performances on the right side of their attack. Chukwueze managed to find the back of the net on seven occasions and earn three assists in 38 matches for the Spanish club in the previous campaign across all competitions.
The Nigerian speedster was a consistent performer on the attacking end of the pitch based on his average of 1.2 shots, 1.1 key passes and 2.5 dribbles per game in La Liga. He can even distribute the ball relatively well in the opponent’s half after making 75.2% of his attempted passes in the top tier of Spanish football (stats via whoscored).
What Will Chukwueze Add To Everton Boss Frank Lampard’s Team?
Chukwueze is a decent dribbler with the ball and can make a few dangerous runs with the ball out on the flanks. He has got the pace to beat his marker when left isolated in a 1v1 situation and can set up some decent plays for others around him in the final third. Chukwueze is primarily a right-winger but can also play as a wide player on the left flank or operate as a centre-forward up top.
The Nigerian sensation usually strikes the ball well from long range but needs to improve his productivity in front of the opponent’s goal.
At the moment, Chukwueze is playing some of the best football of his young career. Hence, Everton should think about recruiting him before the transfer window slams shut this Thursday. However, only time will tell whether he can make a successful transition to life in English football if the Merseyside club manage to bring him on board before the summer transfer deadline.
We can expect the Nigerian talent to add more pace and goals to Frank Lampard‘s frontline and could serve as an ideal replacement for Richarlison, who joined Tottenham Hotspur earlier this year, at Goodison Park. At 23, Chukwueze will only get better with each season and could prove to be a good, long-term signing for the Toffees during this summer transfer window.
