In a recent report, The Daily Express mentioned that Chelsea are set to rival Manchester City for Wolverhampton Wanderers full-back Rayan Aït-Nouri. It is believed that both the Blues and Man City are hoping to land the French talent during this summer transfer period.
Ait-Nouri’s Impressive Form In English Football Last Season
The 21-year-old had a decent campaign at the Molineux Stadium recently as he managed to catch the eye by putting in a handful of impressive displays on the left side of Wolves’ defence. Ait-Nouri featured in 27 matches for the West Midlands club last season, netting one goal and earning six assists in the process across all fronts.
The French youngster gave a good account of himself by averaging 2.8 tackles, 1.0 interceptions, 1.3 clearances, 0.7 key passes and 1.8 dribbles per game in the Premier League. He was even tidy when distributing possession from the left flank, as evidenced by his pass success rate of 76.7% in top-flight football (stats via whoscored).
Is Ait-Nouri A Good Choice For Chelsea Head Coach Thomas Tuchel?
Ait-Nouri can time his challenges well to secure the ball back for his side on the defensive end of the field. He doesn’t mind putting his foot through the ball when needed and can make a few intelligent runs with the ball on the left wing.
The Frenchman can create some decent openings for others around him and can strike the ball well from long range. He is even proficient at keeping the ball moving in the opponent’s half. Someone of Ait-Nouri’s skillset and potential would be an excellent choice for Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel to pursue before the end of this month.
The Wolves talent is already good enough to rival Ben Chilwell for a regular starting place at the West London club in the coming seasons. He could even serve as an ideal replacement for Marcos Alonso who is in the final year of his playing contract at Stamford Bridge.
At 21, Ait-Nouri has got a bright future ahead of him and would be a decent signing for the Blues to consider during this summer transfer period.
