Cucurella had a solid campaign with the Seagulls in the previous campaign after he produced some decent displays on the left side of their defence. The Spaniard made 39 appearances for Brighton last season, registering one goal and two assists in all competitions.
The 24-year-old was a reliable performer down the left flank as he averaged 2.7 tackles, 0.9 interceptions, 1.9 clearances, 0.5 shots, 1.2 key passes and 0.8 dribbles per game in Premier League football. What Will Cucurella Add To Chelsea Head Coach Thomas Tuchel’s Team?
Cucurella can get stuck in with some solid tackles and can read the danger quickly to make a few important interceptions at the back. He doesn’t hesitate to clear the danger when required and can make a few intelligent runs with the ball down the left wing. The Spanish sensation can deliver some inviting crosses into the opponent’s penalty box and is usually accurate with his passing.
Therefore, Cucurella is well-equipped to be a success story at a top club like Chelsea. We can expect the Spanish left-back to add more depth to Thomas Tuchel‘s defence as he is versatile enough to play both as a left-back or as a centre-back if needed.
