In a recent segment on Twitch, journalist Gerard Romero revealed that Barcelona could still move in for Manchester City star Bernardo Silva this month. It is understood that Barcelona are eyeing a late move to land the Portuguese wing wizard before the transfer deadline.
Silva’s Impressive Numbers At Manchester Last Season
Silva had another successful campaign at the Etihad Stadium as he helped Man City win the Premier League once again earlier this summer. The 28-year-old remains an important member of Pep Guardiola’s squad and deserves a lot of credit for netting 13 goals and picking up seven assists in 50 appearances for the Mancunian club last season across all competitions.
The Portugal international was a reliable performer in the final third based on his average of 1.3 shots, 1.7 key passes, 1.6 tackles, 0.5 interceptions and 1.5 dribbles per game in the Premier League. Silva was even accurate when distributing possession in the opponent’s half after making 89.6% of his attempted passes in top-flight football (stats via whoscored).
Silva’s current deal with Man City is set to run out in the summer of 2025, so it would be tough for Barca to arrange a move for him with the transfer deadline fast approaching.
Is Silva A Dream Option For Barcelona Boss Xavi?
Silva can be an excellent dribbler of the ball and has got the vision to cut open the opponent’s defence with a killer pass on the attacking end of the field.
The Portugal international has got the ability to shoot the ball with power and accuracy from long range and usually puts in a tireless shift for his team in both halves.
Someone of Silva’s quality will be a terrific acquisition for Barca this month. We can expect him to bring a lot of quality in the forms of his goals and creativity to Xavi‘s frontline at the Nou Camp. As good as Raphinha is, the Man City star would serve as an upgrade over him at the Nou Camp because of his consistency and winning mindset.
With all things considered, Silva will be a dream option for Barcelona to consider before the end of this summer transfer window. He has what it takes to help the Catalan club compete for some major trophies in the coming seasons. Therefore, Xavi should think about trying everything in his power to get Silva on board this summer as long as he can make enough room for the winger on the club’s wage bill.
