Leeds United will entertain Wolverhampton Wanderers at Elland Road on Saturday afternoon as they focus on securing all three points at home. The Whites got themselves out of relegation trouble on the last day of the previous campaign. Hence, the Yorkshire giants will look to make a positive start to this league season as they aim for a higher finish in the Premier League next year.
Jesse Marsch will set his team up in a 4-2-3-1 formation and could give Patrick Bamford the license to lead the line for the Whites up top.
4-2-3-1 Leeds United Predicted Lineup To Face Wolves
Defence
Illan Meslier will function in between the sticks for Leeds as he looks to earn a clean sheet in front of the home supporters. Robin Koch will resume his defensive partnership with Diego Llorente at the centre of Marsch’s defence as they focus on stopping the Wolves’ attackers from scoring during the 90 minutes.
Rasmus Kristensen will get the nod to start at right-back while Pascal Struijk hopes to impress on the other side as the left-back. Marsch will ask both of them to keep a solid shape at the back and try to support their teammates up top.
Luke Ayling will miss this game because of a knee injury.
Midfield
Marc Roca and Tyle Adams will assume the duties of the holding midfielders as they hope to offer decent protection for their teammates at the back.
The gifted trio of Jack Harrison, Rodrigo and Brenden Aaronson will function just ahead of them as part of Leeds’ attack. Both Harrison and Rodrigo will be responsible for engineering some meaningful openings in the attacking end of the field.
Adam Forshaw is unlikely to recover in time for this game.
Attack
Patrick Bamford will spearhead the Whites’ attack up top. The English forward will have to carry most of the goal-scoring workload for the home side in the final third.
Joe Gelhardt will have to settle for a spot on the bench as he waits for his opportunity to shine in the second half if required.
