In a recent report, Marca provided an update on the future of Real Madrid youngster Mario Gil. It has been mentioned that the Madrid starlet is on the radar of Lazio this summer.
Gil’s Recent Rise In Spanish Football
Gil came through the youth ranks of Espanyol before joining Los Blancos in the summer of 2018. The Spanish prospect did well to break into Carlo Ancelotti’s starting XI as he made two senior appearances for the Madrid giants last season in various competitions.
The 21-year-old has got a bright future ahead of him but is not guaranteed regular playing minutes in the Spanish capital. Thus, it makes sense for the youngster to part ways with Los Blancos in search of greener pastures with Lazio an ideal fit for him during this summer transfer window.
Should Real Madrid Head Coach Carlo Ancelotti Let Gil Go This Summer?
Gil can sense the danger quickly on the defensive end of the pitch and doesn’t mind putting his foot through the ball when needed. The Barcelona-born talent is primarily a central defender but can even fill in as a right-back if his manager needs him to do so. He can make some timely interceptions at the back but is still quite inexperienced at the highest level. Thus, it is only logical for the Spanish whizkid to leave Los Blancos and opt for a change of scenery in search of more game time in the coming seasons.
At the moment, Gil is surplus to requirements at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium as he would find himself behind David Alaba, Antonio Rudiger and Eder Militao in Carlo Ancelotti‘s pecking order next season.
Still, there is no denying that Gil is a prospect to watch out for in the future. At 21, he has the potential to become a top player in his position someday. Hence, it is only fair to the player if the Madrid club let him go before the start of the new campaign as Ancelotti has enough strength in depth in his squad to cope with his absence.
