In a recent report, Fichajes offered an update on Real Madrid and their pursuit of Real Sociedad forward Alexander Isak this summer. It has been mentioned that the Swedish striker has decided to stay at Sociedad beyond this summer despite recent interest from Los Blancos.
Isak’s Good Form In Spanish Football Last Season
The talented frontman had a decent campaign in Spain as he managed to put in some influential performances in the final third. The 22-year-old banged in ten goals and earned three assists in 39 matches for the Spanish club last season across multiple competitions.
The Swedish sensation performed well to average 2.3 shots, 0.6 key passes and 1.4 dribbles per 90 minutes in La Liga. However, he needs to improve his accuracy when distributing the ball from the back based on his pass completion rate of 74.3% in the Spanish first division (stats via whoscored).
What Should Be Real Madrid Boss Carlo Ancelotti’s Play With Regards To Isak?
Isak can lead the line well on his own and can make a few intelligent runs with the ball in the final third. He can score a handful of important goals for his team but is far from prolific in front of the opponent’s goal.
The Swedish attacker can contribute by picking up a few assists up top. He is primarily a centre-forward but can even play as a winger on either flank if needed.
At 22, Isak will only get better with each season and would have served as a good understudy to Karim Benzema at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium if Real Madrid found a way to snap him up this summer.
For now, Carlo Ancelotti would be wise to keep tabs on Isak’s progress in the upcoming campaign before deciding on whether to move in for him next summer. His current contract with Sociedad runs out in the summer of 2026, so it won’t be easy for Los Blancos to sign him in the future. Still, if Isak can find some consistency over the next 12 months, the Madrid giants would have every reason to go back in for him.
