It is understood that Villareal are interested to sign the midfielder permanently after a successful loan spell last season. The Lilywhites are looking to recoup their transfer fee of roughly £30 million for Lo Celso and it remains to be seen if Villareal could match their valuation.

Lo Celso had a fruitful campaign during his loan spell at Villareal last season as he produced a few influential displays in the central areas of the field. He scored a goal and grabbed an assist appearing in 16 matches in La Liga.
He has caught the eye of Unai Emery after averaging 1.4 tackles, 1.1 shots, 1.1 key passes and 1.6 dribbles per game in the top tier of Spanish football. Giovani Lo Celso is a complete midfielder who can press his opponents and doesn’t mind putting his foot into a tackle. The Argentine can create some clear-cut goal-scoring opportunities in the final third setting up his teammates in front of the goal. He doesn’t hesitate in taking a shot at the goal from a distance and excels at holding on to the ball while getting out of tight situations in the midfield.
The 26-year-old is currently in his prime but has seen a decline in his performance after he fell down the pecking order at the North London club. But he can rejuvenate his form with a little bit of confidence and regular playtime.
