Football.London believes that Tanguy Ndombele could exit Tottenham Hotspur as Marseille show a keen interest in acquiring him this off-season. It is understood that the French outfit are willing to sign the French international but they are unable to afford the fee that Spurs are demanding.
Ndombele’s Loan Spell At Lyon Last Season
Ndombele was loaned to Olympique Lyon in the January transfer window after falling down the pecking order at North London. He made 11 appearances for the French club last season, where he managed to produce two assists in Ligue 1.
The Longjumeau-born talent has tried making the most out of his appearances as he averaged 0.5 shots, 0.8 key passes, 1.5 dribbles and 2.3 tackles per game in the French first division. However, he has been impressive with his ball distribution after completing 89.2% of his attempted passes in the French top flight (stats via whoscored).
Should Conte Cash In On Him And Let Him Exit Tottenham Hotspur?
Ndombele has a solid presence in the central areas of the field. He doesn’t mind putting his foot into a tackle and can make some clever interceptions to win the ball back from the opposition. He is adept at transitioning the ball from the defence to offence as he excels at distributing possession. The French midfielder has excellent ball control and can get out of tight situations comfortably.
Despite being a player with such calibre, he has fallen down the pecking order under Antonio Conte, which has seen him being loaned out in the last transfer window. The Italian tactician has no plans for Ndombele in the next campaign and he has made it prevalent as he left him out for the South Korean tour. So a move away is the only viable option for the defensive powerhouse.
Tottenham should lower their asking price and negotiate with Marseille to sanction his exit as at 25, he can rejuvenate his career with the French side and the extra money from the transfer would be beneficial for the Lilywhites in acquiring decent replacements.
