The 27-year-old registered two goals and five assists in 35 matches for Los Blancos in the previous campaign across various competitions.
The French talent made a positive impact in both halves based on his average of 1.1 tackles, 0.8 interceptions, 0.9 clearances, 0.9 key passes and 1.6 dribbles per game in La Liga. He was even accurate when distributing the ball from the left-wing after making 92% of his attempted passes in league football (stats via whoscored).

Mendy is a solid tackler of the ball and can sense the danger quickly to earn the ball back for his team on the defensive third of the pitch. He has got the pace to make a few recovering runs at the back and usually clears the danger when needed.
The Frenchman can complete some energetic dribbles down the left flank and has got the vision to create a handful of decent chances in the final third. He can be a good crosser of the ball as well when he is playing well on the pitch.
