The 27-year-old proved his worth by averaging 2.3 tackles, 1.0 interceptions, 2.4 clearances, 1.1 key passes and 1.0 dribbles per 90 minutes in La Liga. He even took care of the ball when distributing possession from the right-wing, as evidenced by his pass success rate of 77.8% in the Spanish top tier (stats via whoscored).
