In a recent interview with Football Insider, Gabriel Agbonlahor urged Newcastle United to move in for Chelsea forward Armando Broja. Agbonlahor said,
“I think Broja is a top, top player but maybe his form in the second half of the season put a few suitors off.
“Clubs will want him, but he tailed off in the second half of the season.
“But if I was Newcastle or Leeds, clubs who need strikers, I’d be doing everything I could to get him in.
“He’s shown what he can do in the Premier League. He’s a threat, he’s big, he’s strong.
“The clubs will just have to hope that he can do it over a whole season, not just six months.”
Broja’s Impressive Form At St. Mary’s Stadium
Broja had a positive loan spell at Southampton in the previous campaign as he put in several eye-catching performances as the spearhead of their attack. The talented youngster scored nine times and earned one assist in 38 appearances for the Saints last season in multiple competitions.
The Albanian striker did well to average 1.4 shots and 1.0 dribbles per game in Premier League football. However, he lacked quality when linking up play with his teammates in the final third after completing 61.4% of his attempted passes in the English first division (stats via whoscored).
Is Broja A Decent Choice For Newcastle United?
Broja has decent pace under his belt and can make a few clever runs with the ball in the final third. He is even proficient at engineering space for himself to get some shots in at goal.
The Albanian sensation can be a decent finisher in front of the opposition goal when he is playing with confidence on the pitch.
Broja will only get better with each year which makes him a decent, long-term choice for Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe to consider this summer. He will add more firepower to the Magpies’ attack and could serve as an upgrade over Chris Wood who struggled to score goals at St. James’ Park last season.
At 20, the future is quite promising for Broja, so the Tyneside outfit should think about trying their best to recruit him this month.
