In a recent report, The Daily Mail revealed that Newcastle United are hoping to land Leeds United winger Jack Harrison this summer. It has been claimed that the Magpies have identified the English wide player as a target for this summer transfer window.
Harrison’s Difficult Yet Impressive Campaign At Elland Road
Harrison had a tough season with the West Yorkshire outfit but managed to put in a run of impressive performances on the left side of the Leeds attack. The 25-year-old netted ten goals and secured two assists in 38 matches for the Whites in the previous campaign across various competitions.
The Stoke-on-Trent-born wide player did well to average 1.6 tackles, 1.2 shots, 1.2 key passes and 1.5 dribbles per game in Premier League football. However, he sometimes gave away the ball cheaply as he completed just 70.5% of his attempted passes in the English top-flight (stats via whoscored).
What Will Harrison Bring To Newcastle United?
Harrison is a quick and agile winger who can make some driving runs with the ball out on the flanks. He has got the vision to cut open the opposition defence with a decisive pass in the final third and can strike the ball with power from long range.
The English sensation usually works hard defensively and is versatile enough to operate in multiple positions across the pitch. He is primarily a left-sided winger but can fill in on the right flank or even act as a left-back if required.
However, Harrison needs to work on improving his link-up play deep inside the opponent’s half. He even has to find a way to increase his productivity on the attacking end of the field.
A winger of Harrison’s pace and work ethic will be a welcome addition to Newcastle boss Eddie Howe‘s squad. He will bring a lot of goals and creativity to the Magpies‘ frontline and could help them challenge for a top-half finish in the Premier League next season. Therefore, it makes sense for the Tyneside outfit to try everything they can to bring Harrison to St. James’ Park before the end of this summer transfer window.
