According to a report by Mirror, it was stated that Newcastle United are showing keen interest in Moussa Diaby from Bayer Leverkusen. It has also been mentiend that a transfer sum between £40-50m should bring him over to St. James Park this off-season.
Diaby’s Campaign For Bayer Leverkusen Last Season
Diaby has had an outstanding campaign for the German outfit as they clinched a third-place finish after he registered 17 goals and 14 assists over 42 appearances last season across all fronts.
The France international performed exceptionally well on the right-wing of Gerardo Seoane’s frontline after averaging 1.7 shots, 1.9 key passes and 1.8 dribbles per game in the Bundesliga. However, he was only decent with his ball distribution as he completed 77.2% of his attempted passes in the German top-flight (stats via whoscored).
Should Newcastle United Boss Eddie Howe Bring Him To St. James Park?
Moussa Diaby has proven to be an attacking threat and his performance last season has attracted the attention of top-tier clubs all across Europe. He excels at creating space for himself using his pace and agility. The French forward is a decent finisher inside the penalty box. He can make a few decent runs down the right-flank and create opportunities for his teammates with his wide array of crossing abilities.
At 22, he has a lot of potential to become one of the best wingers in Europe and can improve over the coming years. He is primarily a right-winger but remains comfortable in playing anywhere over the attacking end of the field. This makes him a brilliant addition to the Magpies.
Eddie Howe would be wise to acquire his signature and bring him to Tyneside before the next season kicks off.
