In a recent interview with Football Insider, Kevin Campbell tipped Liverpool to lead the race for Borrusia Dortmund star Jude Bellingham next summer. Campbell said,
“I think Dortmund tend to sell one big player a year – and obviously this year it was Haaland.
“Jude Bellingham will be a better player for having been out in Germany for another year.
“Klopp likes him a lot, that’s obvious. If he comes on the market next summer, I’m sure Liverpool will be at the front of the queue to sign him.
“They’ve inquired, I’m sure, and Klopp has had the inside scoop from Dortmund – unfortunately he’s not available.”
Bellingham’s Excellent Run Of Form In German Football
Bellingham had a fantastic season at Dortmund recently as he was responsible for playing some of his best football at the heart of their midfield. The 19-year-old found the back of the net six times and earned 14 assists in 45 matches for the German giants in the previous campaign in all competitions.
The England international was a consistent performer at the centre of the park based on his average of 1.6 tackles, 1.3 interceptions, 0.9 clearances, 1.4 shots, 1.2 interceptions and 1.7 dribbles per 90 minutes in the Bundesliga. He was even excellent when distributing possession from midfield after making 83.7% of his attempted passes in the top tier of German football (stats via whoscored).
Will Bellingham Be A Dream Option For Liverpool Head Coach Jurgen Klopp?
Bellingham can do a little bit of everything at the centre of the park. He can press the opposition well and can offer decent protection for his backline.
More importantly, the English whizkid is a decent dribbler with the ball and can engineer a few clear-cut chances for his teammates in the attacking end of the field.
Bellingham is destined to have a very promising future in European football. Hence, Liverpool would do well to win the race for his services at the end of next season.
We can expect the Dortmund star to inject more quality to Jurgen Klopp‘s midfield at Anfield and could help the Merseyside outfit challenge for even more trophies over the next decade.
