Nunes’ Impressive Form In Portuguese Football Last Season
Nunes caught the eye by performing at a high level for Sporting at the centre of the park in the previous campaign. The 23-year-old found the back of the net on four occasions and secured five assists in 50 matches for the Portuguese giants last season on all fronts.
The Brazil-born talent protected his backline well by averaging 1.3 tackles, 0.9 interceptions, 0.6 shots, 0.7 key passes and 2.5 dribbles per game in Liga Portugal. He even took care of the ball when distributing the ball from midfield, as evidenced by his pass completion rate of 85.8% in top-flight football (stats via whoscored).
Is Nunes A Good Option For Liverpool Boss Jurgen Klopp?
Nunes is a solid tackler of the ball and can time his challenges well to secure the ball back for his side. The Sporting talent usually clears the danger when required and can even engineer a few decent chances for his teammates in the opposition half.
The Portuguese midfield ace is a good dribbler with the ball from midfield and can retain possession well in the opposition half.
Recruiting Nunes will no doubt give Jurgen Klopp‘s more options at the centre of the park in the coming seasons. With both Jordan Henderson and Thiago Alcantara not getting any younger, the Reds have got an aging midfield right now.
Signing Nunes will definitely be a brilliant move for Liverpool in the long run. He will add more energy and dynamism to Klopp’s midfield department at Anfield. At 23, the Portuguese sensation has got his best years ahead of him which makes him a good option for the Merseyside club to consider before the end of this summer transfer window.
