In a recent report, The Daily Mail claimed that Liverpool are in talks to sell Ben Davies to Blackburn Rovers this summer. It is believed that the Reds are hoping to cash in on the English centre-back during this summer transfer period.
Davies’ Impressive Loan Spell At Bramall Lane Last Season
Davies spent the previous campaign on loan at Sheffield United as he produced some solid displays for them in the EFL Championship. The 26-year-old registered one goal in 21 matches for the Blades last season across all fronts.
The English defensive ace was a dominant presence at the back based on his average of 1.5 tackles, 1.4 interceptions and 2.6 clearances per 90 minutes in the Championship. He was even been accurate when distributing the ball from inside his half, based on his pass success rate of 85% in top-flight football (stats via whoscored).
Liverpool Are In Talks To Sell Davies This Summer: Good Move For Everyone Involved?
Davies is a solid tackler of the ball and can read the danger well to secure the ball back for his team on the defensive end of the field. He usually clears his lines when needed and can even play his way out from the back. The English talent is primarily a centre-back but can even serve as a left-back if his manager needs him to do so.
However, Davies is yet to make an appearance for Liverpool and is currently surplus to requirements at the club. Thus, it makes sense for the player to opt for a permanent change of scenery in search of regular first-team football in the coming seasons.
At the moment, Davies has got no chance of securing any playing minutes at Anfield if he decides to stay with the Merseyside club. Hence, it is only fair to the defender if Jurgen Klopp allows him to leave during this summer transfer window.
At 26, Davies is entering his prime while Liverpool have currently got a loaded backline. With all things considered, it will be a good move for everyone involved if the English central defender seals a move to Blackburn Rovers in this off-season.
