Elliott’s Impressive Rise At Anfield
Elliott played a key role in Jurgen Klopp’s match-day squad in the previous campaign when he managed to catch the eye at times with his performances in the opposition half. However, he missed a lot of games last season due to a serious injury.
The 19-year-old was involved in 11 matches for the Reds, netting one goal in the process across multiple competitions. Elliott deserves some credit for averaging 1.7 shots, 0.5 crosses and 1.5 key passes per 90 minutes in the Premier League. He was even been accurate when distributing possession in the opponent’s half after making 84.2% of his attempted passes in the English top tier (stats via whoscored).
Is Elliott A Star In The Making?
Elliott has got decent pace under his belt and can complete some dangerous dribbles with the ball when he is playing with confidence on the pitch. He can whip in a few inviting crosses into the opponent’s penalty area and can strike the ball with power from long range.
The London-born sensation can orchestrate some good chances for others around him and hardly gives away the ball cheaply in the opposition half. He is primarily a right-sided winger but can even fill in as a box-to-box midfielder or function in the number ten position if required.
At 19, the future is quite bright for Elliott as long as he can steer clear of injuries. The English speedster has already managed to impress with his performances against Red Bull Leipzig and Red Bull Salzburg in pre-season recently.
Therefore, Jose Enrique could be right with his assessment of the talented teenager as he has the potential to become a future superstar at Anfield, especially under the guidance of a world-class manager like Jurgen Klopp. Elliott is definitely a star in the making, so the Reds have every reason to be optimistic about his chances of having an impressive campaign at the Merseyside club next season.
