In a recent tweet, renowned journalist Christian Falk stated that Chelsea could move in for Bayern Munich forward Robert Lewandowski this summer. It has been mentioned the Blues will launch a move for the Polish striker if Barcelona fail to come to an agreement with Bayern for him.

Lewandowski’s Excellent Goal-Scoring Record In German Football Last Season
Lewandowski had another stellar campaign at the Allianz Arena last season when he banged in goals for fun in Bundesliga. The Poland international found the back of the net 50 times and grabbed seven assists in 46 appearances for the German outfit in the previous campaign in all competitions.
The 33-year-old led the line well on his own based on his average of 4.7 shots, 1.1 key passes and 1.4 dribbles per 90 minutes in the Bundesliga. He was even accurate when distributing possession in the opponent’s half, as evidenced by his pass completion rate of 77.4% in the German top-flight (stats via whoscored).
What Will Lewandowski Bring To Chelsea?
Lewandowski remains an unforgiving finisher in front of the opponent’s goal and can even set up a few chances for his teammates on the attacking end of the field. The experienced Poland international can even make some intelligent runs in behind the opposition backline.
Therefore, Lewandowski will be a great choice for the Blues in the short term as he will enhance the quality of Thomas Tuchel‘s first XI considerably for at least a couple of seasons. At 33, Lewandowski might still have a few good years left in him to play at the top of his game.
The Bayern Munich superstar could even help the West London club challenge Manchester City and Liverpool in the Premier League title in the upcoming campaign. We can expect Lewandowski to bring more firepower to Chelsea’s frontline. Thus, Tuchel would be wise to try everything in his power to bring the Polish centre-forward to Stamford Bridge before the end of this summer transfer window.
