In a recent interview with Football Insider, Alex McLeish urged Borussia Dortmund midfielder, Jude Bellingham, to join Liverpool ahead of Real Madrid. McLeish said,
“Jude has served his time abroad.
“I always feel, when you are that age, that you want to play for someone in the Premier League. Why not Liverpool?
“A couple of years ago they won the Champions League and they have recently won the Premier League.
“They are flying every single season, they are a force to be reckoned with. Why not Liverpool?
“Real Madrid might come in but is it the name that catches you more than the way you can settle into a club?”
Bellingham’s Excellent Numbers At Signal Iduna Park Last Season
Bellingham had a terrific campaign at Dortmund recently as he was responsible for putting in several influential displays at the centre of their midfield. The talented teenager scored six goals and grabbed 14 assists in 45 appearances for his current employers last season across all fronts.
The 19-year-old proved his worth as a reliable performer by averaging 1.6 tackles, 1.3 interceptions, 0.9 clearances, 1.4 shots, 1.2 interceptions and 1.7 dribbles per game in Bundesliga football. He even took care of possession well when playing his way out from the back, as evidenced by his pass completion rate of 83.7% in top-flight football (stats via whoscored).
Should Liverpool Boss Jurgen Klopp Move In For Bellingham?
Bellingham can make some solid tackles to make life tough for the opposition at the centre of the park. He can offer decent protection for his teammates at the back and has got the vision to create a handful of promising chances in the attacking end of the field.
The English youngster can even chip in by netting the odd goal from midfield. Thus, he will be a good fit for Jurgen Klopp‘s playing style at Anfield.
We can expect the Dortmund star to add more goals and creativity to Liverpool‘s midfield. Therefore, the Reds would be wise to move in for Bellingham next summer as he could help them bag even more major trophies over the next decade.
