In a recent report, Football.London stated that Arsenal could make a deal for Chelsea’s youth prospect Levi Colwill.
Colwill’s Impressive Loan Spell At Huddersfield Last Season
Levi Colwill enjoyed a fruitful campaign during his loan spell at the Championship club Huddersfield Town. He produced some dominant displays at the defensive end of the field. He scored two goals and grabbed one assist over 32 appearances across all competitions.
The Southampton-born sensation has impressed in the backline after averaging 1.7 tackles, 1.3 interceptions and 4.3 clearances per game in the English Championship.
He was also decent with his ball distribution after completing 78.5% of his attempted passes in the English second division (stats via whoscored).
Should Arteta Bring Him To Arsenal?
Colwill is a solid tackler of the ball and has the defensive awareness to sense danger before it becomes an issue. He doesn’t mind clearing his lines when the opposition is on the front foot. The English centre-back can dominate his opponents in the air, towering in at 1.87m.
At 19, the Chelsea star has proved himself as a solid presence in the defensive third of the field. Colwill definitely has the potential to become one of the best defenders in the country if he works harder over the coming years.
Colwill would be a brilliant addition to Arteta’s squad as he could provide cover for Ben White and Gabriel in the heart of Arsenal’s defence. He would also be a decent replacement for William Saliba as the 21-year-old refuses to sign a new deal with the Gunners. Mikel Arteta would be wise to bring him to Emirates Stadium ahead of the next campaign.
