In a recent report, The Sun stated that Arsenal have launched a £5.9m offer for Benfica left-back Alejandro Grimaldo this summer. It has been claimed that the Gunners have identified the Spanish full-back as a target for this summer transfer period.

Grimaldo had a fruitful campaign with Benfica in the previous campaign as he put in several influential displays on the left side of their defence. He even distributed the ball relatively well based on his pass completion rate of 85% in the Portuguese top tier (stats via whoscored).

Grimaldo is a solid tackler of the ball and can read the danger quickly to secure the ball back for his side inside his half. He usually clears his lines when in danger of being exposed at the back and can make a few clever runs with the ball down the left flank.
The Spanish sensation is a good crosser of the ball and can orchestrate some meaningful chances for his teammates in the final third. Grimaldo can even chip in by scoring the odd goal from time to time. He is primarily a left-back but can also play as a left-sided wide player if required.
