In a recent interview with Football Insider, Gabriel Agbonlahor shared his take on the future of Kortney Hause at Aston Villa. Agbonlahor said,
“I do like Hause.
“Whenever he’s come in for Aston Villa he’s done well. He’s not looked phased, he’s not looked out of place, he’s looked very strong, he’s got the pace and he’s good in the air.
“It’s going to be very difficult. You’ve got Carlos and Mings who, for me, will be the first choice as one left-footer and one right-footer for Steven Gerrard.
“Then you’ve got Konsa who is going to be coming back from an injury as well and Chambers as well.
“There are players ahead of him. It might be something that Steven Gerrard looks at as, do you let Kortney Hause go on loan and play some football?
“Or, does he stay and wait just in case there are injuries and suspensions and he can get his chance.
“It’s going to be difficult for him to get in that starting line-up.”
Hause’s Bit-Part Role At Villa Park Last Season
Hause played a sporadic role for Aston Villa last season when he failed to make himself a regular starter at Villa Park. The Redbridge-born talent made just nine appearances for Steven Gerrard’s side in the previous campaign, scoring one goal in the process across various competitions.
What Should Be Aston Villa Boss Steven Gerrard’s Play With Regards To Hause’s Future?
Hause can scan the danger well to clear his lines at the back when required. He is a good tackler of the ball and can secure possession back for his side on the defensive third of the pitch. However, Hause is nowhere near good enough to feature in the Premier League week in week out.
The English defensive ace will fall behind Diego Carlos, Tyrone Mings and Ezri Konsa in Steven Gerrard‘s pecking order at Villa Park next season.
Thus, the Villans should think about cashing in on Hause during this summer transfer window despite the player’s contract with the West Midlands club running out in 2025. Gerrard doesn’t have the luxury to offer him more playing opportunities, so it is only fair to the defender if he is allowed to leave in search of greener pastures this summer.
