In a recent report, Eldesmarque stated that West Ham United are eyeing a move for Adnan Januzaj who is set to become a free agent at the end of this month. It has been stated that the Hammers could face competition in the form of Barcelona and AS Roma in the race to land the Belgian wide player.
Januzaj’s Campaign Of Mixed Emotions In Spanish Football
Januzaj had an up and down campaign at the Reale Arena as he managed to catch the eye with some promising displays but struggled to be consistent with his offensive numbers over the past ten months. The former Manchester United youth player registered five goals and three assists in 44 matches for Sociedad last season in all competitions.
The Belgian international did well to prove his worth in Europe where he averaged 2.7 shots, 2.9 key passes, 2.4 crosses and 3.3 dribbles per 90 minutes in La Liga. He has even distributed the ball relatively well after making 75.4% of his attempted passes in the top tier of Spanish football (stats via whoscored).
What Will Januzaj Add To West Ham Boss David Moyes’ Team?
Januzaj is proficient at creating a yard of space for himself to get a few shots in on target. He can even set up a few clear-cut chances for others around him and is a decent crosser of the ball as well.
The Belgian sensation can complete some dangerous dribbles out on the wide areas but needs to be more productive in the attacking end of the field.
We can expect Januzaj to add more firepower to West Ham head coach David Moyes‘ attack. He has what it takes to offer some healthy competition for Said Benrahma, Pablo Fornals and Jarrod Bowen for a regular starting spot at the London Stadium in the coming seasons.
With all things considered, the Hammers would be wise to snap Januzaj up when he becomes a free agent at the end of this month as he could help them challenge for a top-four place in the Premier League next season.
