In a recent report, Cadena SER offered an update on Liverpool and their pursuit of Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham this summer. It is believed that the Reds have already offered €100m for the English playmaker as they look to bolster their midfield during this summer transfer window.
Bellingham’s Impressive Form For Dortmund Last Season
The 18-year-old enjoyed a magnificent season at Signal Iduna Park recently after he put in plenty of eye-catching performances at the centre of Dortmund’s midfield. Bellingham found the back of the net six times and picked up 14 assists in 44 matches for his current employers in the previous campaign across all fronts.
The England international made a positive impact at both ends of the field based on his average of 1.6 tackles, 1.3 interceptions, 0.9 clearances, 1.4 shots, 1.2 key passes and 1.7 dribbles per game in Bundesliga. He was even careful when distributing the ball from midfield as he completed 83.7% of his attempted passes in top-flight football (stats via whoscored).
What Will Bellingham Bring To Liverpool?
Bellingham can provide decent protection for his teammates at the back and is proficient at pressing the opposition well at the centre of the park.
More importantly, the English teenager knows how to find the back of the net and can even engineer a few promising chances for others around him in the opposition half. The Bundesliga talent is primarily a central midfielder but can also fill in as a wide player on either flank if needed.
Bellingham is a generational talent and could become a future superstar in European football. Therefore, the Reds would be wise to try everything they can to acquire the services of the English talent in this off-season. Bellingham might even serve as an ideal long-term successor for Jordan Henderson at Anfield if he can continue improving with each year.
The Dortmund star would bring plenty of energy and dynamism to Liverpool head coach Jurgen Klopp‘s attack and increase competition for places within his match-day squad. Furthermore, Bellingham could help the Merseyside club challenge for even more silverware over the next decade.
