In a recent report, Marca revealed that Real Madrid could open talks to recruit Benfica B starlet Henrique Araujo this summer. It has been stated that Los Blancos are eyeing a move to land the Portuguese talent in this off-season.
Araujo’s Recent Rise In Portuguese Football
Araujo has established himself as a decent goal-scorer for Benfica’s B team as he has been responsible for producing a series of fruitful displays for them in front of the opponent’s goal. The Portuguese sensation scored 24 times and grabbed eight assists in 54 matches for the Portuguese side thus far across various competitions.
The 20-year-old has already made six senior appearances for Benfica’s senior side, finding the back of the net three times in the process. Araujo managed to impress as a substitute for the Portuguese giants last season when he averaged 2.2 shots and 0.6 key passes per game in Liga Portugal.
He was excellent with his link-up play in the attacking end of the pitch based on his pass completion rate of 96.4% in league football (stats via whoscored).
Should Real Madrid Head Coach Carlo Ancelotti Snap Araujo Up This Summer?
Araujo has already begun to prove his worth as a decent finisher at Benfica. He excels at creating a yard of space for himself to get a few shots in on-target.
The Portuguese prospect is also quite tidy when linking up with others around him in the attacking end of the field and can even create a few inviting opportunities up top.
An up-and-coming striker of Araujo’s skillset will be a great choice for Los Blancos in the long run. He could serve as a successor to Karim Benzema at the Madrid club in the future if he can continue to take strides towards improving himself with each campaign.
Thus, Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti should focus on snapping Araujo up as he has the potential to become a future star at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium. However, the gifted striker is still quite inexperienced at the highest level and would need time to settle into life in Spain.
