In a recent interview with Football Insider, former Everton forward Kevin Campbell backed Liverpool to recruit Borussia Dortmund starlet Jude Bellingham next summer. Campbell said,
“Listen, to come back to England for a club like Liverpool would appeal to Jude Bellingham I’m sure.
“The question is, what kind of feeling does he have towards Real Madrid. Real Madrid has that mystery. They are a juggernaut of a club. When a Real Madrid comes in, it is very difficult for players to turn them down.
“Bellingham might want to come back. If he wants to come back to England I’m sure there will be a lot of clubs interested.
“Liverpool would be in pole position if he does. There is only a few teams he could come back to.
“It would be a good move for Liverpool. It has been talked about for 18 months or so now.
“Bellingham is at Dortmund as well, Klopp has very good links there. I’m sure he has been well studied.”
Bellingham’s Outstanding Season In German Football
Bellingham enjoyed a sensational campaign at Signal Iduna Park as he managed to perform at a high level for Dortmund over the past ten months. The 19-year-old participated in 43 matches for the German outfit last season, netting six goals and grabbing 14 assists on all fronts.
The England international made a positive impact in both halves based on his average of 1.6 tackles, 1.3 interceptions, 0.9 clearances, 1.4 shots, 1.2 interceptions and 1.7 dribbles per 90 minutes in the Bundesliga. He was even accurate when distributing the ball from midfield after making 83.7% of his attempted passes in league football (stats via whoscored).
Is Bellingham A Dream Signing For Liverpool Boss Jurgen Klopp?
Bellingham can time his tackles well to earn the ball back at the centre of the park. He can press the opposition well but is more renowned for his offensive skill set.
The 15-time England international can strike the ball with power and accuracy from long range. He has even got the eye to play a decisive pass in the attacking end of the field.
Bellingham is a decent dribbler with the ball as well which makes him a complete package and a perfect fit for Jurgen Klopp‘s brand of football at Anfield. He will definitely inject more quality to Liverpool‘s midfield if the Reds can find a way to win the race for him at the end of next season.
At 19, Bellingham has already begun to prove his worth as a generational talent. Hence, he will be a dream signing for the Reds to pursue in this off-season.
