In a recent report, Football Scotland mentioned that Liverpool are leading the race for Aberdeen full-back Calvin Ramsay. It is believed that the Reds are ahead of Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur and Bologna in the race to land the Scotland Under-21 international.
Ramsay’s Impressive Rise In Scottish Football
The 18-year-old has managed to break out as a first-team starter at the Pittodrie Stadium in the previous campaign when he put in a series of impressive displays on the right side of Aberdeen’s defence. Ramsay featured in 39 matches for the Scottish outfit last season, scoring one goal and grabbing nine assists across all competitions.
The Aberdeen-born talent has already begun to show flashes of his potential and would now be expected to follow in the footsteps of Andrew Robertson if he decides to move to Anfield this summer. However, he is still quite raw and might need some time to settle into life in English football.
Liverpool Leading The Race For Ramsay: Is He A Prospect For The Future?
Ramsay has decent pace under his belt and can make some promising runs with the ball down the right flank. He has a good work rate and usually works hard to give a good account of himself on the defensive end of the field.
The three-time Scotland Under-21 international deserves a lot of credit for adding a handful of assists to his game which could be why Liverpool are showing interest in recruiting him this summer.
We can expect Ramsay to add more depth to Jurgen Klopp‘s match-day squad as he is already good enough to act as an ideal understudy to Trent Alexander-Arnold for the right-back position at Anfield.
At 18, Ramsay has already begun to prove his worth as a reliable performer in the Scottish Premiership and has got the potential to become a future star at the highest level. Hence, there is no denying that he is a prospect to watch out for in the future and would be a good signing for the Reds to consider for the long run.
